P5/6

🌟P5/6 Grandparents day🌟 Students had a great time playing different maths games with their grandparents and friends. From place value bingo to addition snakes and ladders, sudoku, the 24 game and even some iPad challenges, it was a busy afternoon filled with fun. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us.

Outdoor Learning

This term we have enjoyed taking our learning outdoors. We have been learning about different shapes and angles. We searched for different types of angles and explored 2D shape properties using chalk.

World Mental Health Day

P5/6 celebrated World Mental Health day by taking part in some yoga, exercise and mindful colouring. We also wrote some positive affirmations to stick on our 'Positivity Wall'

P5/6 celebrated National Poetry day on Thursday by writing fantastic acrostic poems inspired by our class topic, ‘Mountains’.

Outdoor 2D shapes - We had lots of fun revising 2D shapes in the sun. We used metre sticks and chalk to draw 2D shapes and identified their properties.

We had lots of fun taking part in the Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful Coastal Schools workshop. We learned lots about marine life and the harmful effects of marine plastic pollution. Then we took part in a marine litter pick. We finished off with some scavenging and discovered lots of interesting creatures.

Santa litter pick - P5/6 had an exciting task of helping Santa look for the torn pieces of his suit throughout the town. We also did a litter pick around Killyleagh before Santa visits on Sunday.

Christmas Daily Mile Walk

Practical Measuring - We had lots of fun working together to measure our body parts as part of our 'Mighty Me' topic.

We enjoyed taking part in the online Anti-Bullying week workshop with HIP Psychology. We worked together to take part in an online quiz and even learned about celebrities who had overcome bullying.

Happy Halloween from P5/6

As part of our “Mighty Me” topic we have been learning about the human body and the importance of keeping healthy. A Nurse came in to answer some questions and tell us about her job.We had lots of fun using the stethoscopes and oximeters to check our vitals.

World Peace Day posters

Ian from Downpatrick Fire Station came to chat to us about fire safety and the importance of checking our smoke alarms and having a fire safety plan.
